Jack
A Vol Birthday

Jack was born on August 29th, 1954 in Jackson, TN and 1 of 6 siblings, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. His parents were avid UT fans and he graduated UT Martin before accepting a job offer in Florida. The University Tennessee has always been in his blood. He loves UT football, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball and tries not to miss any televised games on TV since that's his only entertainment due to his health issues.
Jack suffered a brain hemorrhage stroke on March 29, 2018 while at work. He spent weeks in intensive care before being moved to a step-down unit and then moved to a nursing home to start rehab and recover. They did not know at the time but he would never improve and remains paralyzed on his right side and unable to verbally communicate, requiring full assistance. He is fully aware of the UT sports schedule with a little help.
He was moved home after about 6 months and it was good, but unfortunately, after 7 years, he had to transition to a care facility where he could receive care around the clock. Jack is really laid back and easy-going and doesn't complain about anything. As long as he has his games shows and UT sports and he's good.
The YOLO Foundation had the privilege of partnering with Fairpark Health and Rehabilitation and Collectables and More in Alcoa to make a dream come true for "Jack the Vol Fan."
It was brought to our attention that Jack wanted to meet a Vol celebrity for his birthday. Jack is a "Vol fan from birth," as we are told. He is a UT alumnus and has followed Vol baseball, football, basketball, and softball for as long as he can remember.
We were fortunate to have Hunter Ensley, a star player on the National Championship Vol baseball team, come out to celebrate Jack's birthday. Hunter presented him with a signed bat and ball and was very generous with his time.
