Renee
"I want your job making dreams come true."
I'm here to give
This dream began with a night of insomnia. Destiny, the daughter of Renee, could not sleep because of the stress of her mom’s illness. Around 2 a.m., she began scrolling through social media, hoping it would ease her mind enough to rest. As she said, “I ran across the YOLO Foundation and decided I had nothing to lose by applying for a dream for mama never thinking anything would come of it.”
Something did come of it.
YOLO scheduled a visit with Destiny, her mother, Renee, and Renee’s granddaughter. It was immediately clear that Renee was a selfless person who always thought of others first. Her focus was on her daughter and granddaughter. When asked about a dream she might like to experience as part of a “Dream Come True” experience, she responded, “I want your job making dreams come true.” When asked whose dream she would like to fulfill, she pointed directly to her daughter and granddaughter. After talking through possibilities, they settled on a getaway trip so Destiny and her family could enjoy some well-deserved time together, with Renee and her husband joining them to make generational memories.
There was one experience Renee especially wanted to share with Destiny: a day at the spa. Neither had ever been to a spa before. Dreams did come true, and Renee and Destiny enjoyed a special spa day.
Afterward, Destiny posted on social media:
“This woman is truly my best friend in the world. We had such a good day at the spa. I would give anything in the world to have experiences like this with her more often. Mama, I hope this trip has been as amazing for you as it has been for me. I love you!”
During the trip, they stayed in a beautiful mountain cabin with a hot tub, fireplace, pool table, and many other thoughtful amenities.
In addition to the spa day, a few other activities allowed them to spend meaningful time together. On the first day, they visited the Smoky Mountain Deer Farm and Exotic Petting Zoo, where Renee saw her first “white deer” and had time to reconnect with nature. Her granddaughter “had the time of her life” seeing and petting the animals.
They also enjoyed a special VIP visit to the Truth Traveler, an immersive journey from the Garden of Eden through Christ’s ascension. Destiny best described it:
Destiny commented, “…thank you so very much for all of this. We went to Truth Traveler today and it was out of this world. They showered mama and her granddaughter both with gifts when we left and the attraction itself was AMAZING. We made so many memories this week and I will forever cherish them!”
The dream also included visits to the Titanic Museum, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, and the Pirates Voyage Dinner Show.
“Memories are being made and a couple more things off mom's bucket list are being checked off. Thank you to the YOLO Foundation for making this possible. Yesterday my sweet mama got to see a white buck and deer which was at the top of her bucket list and tomorrow we get a girls spa day. Memories are being made and I will cherish them forever!”
